Saturday Lunchtime BBQs at the Flor de Sal
With the warmer weather now here, al fresco dining becomes the norm rather than the exception and the Flor de Sal restaurant (Vía de Francisca Capllonch Plomer) in Camp de Mar is now having barbecues every Saturday lunchtime from 1 to 3.30pm.
There are two set menus to choose from priced at 8 or 12€. Advance bookings are recommended.

Roadworks Disrupt Traffic
The main through road of Camp de Mar - Avenida Francisca Capllonch Plomer - has been dug up for road works again by the municipal council. With a section of the Avenida cut off, traffic has been forced to use complicated diversions. This has lead to short-cuts by taxis driving the wrong way down one-way streets in order to gain access to the centre of Camp de Mar.
The council's plan to make further improvements to the road shows no sign of progress in over two months, as witnessed by adjacent piles of sand and gravel that appear to be unused.
The Urban development department of Andratx town council said yesterday that it had “no knowledge” of the situation.

Thomas Cook Closing 200 High Street Shops
Thomas Cook is to close 200 High Street shops and lay-off 1,000 staff over the next 2 years as it struggles to recover from a £398 million loss.

TUI UK to spend £8 million rebranding high street holiday shops
TUI UK will re-brand its retail branding by introducing “Thomson….. featuring First Choice”, to increase brand presence and further develop its position as market leaders on the high street. Over the course of the next two years, TUI will be investing £8 million in changing the look of all its high street retail stores, starting this month in the Exeter region.

Thomson Airways are conducting the first commercial UK flight of a plane today fuelled by a used cooking oil and jet fuel mix. The trip to Lanzarote by a Boeing 757 from Birmingham is a one-off until regular supplies of chip fat can be sourced for a full service powered by such a mix next year.
